Haters Love Duke Lantern...and he responds!

I can see now Duke Lantern is a sarcastic dude and its fucking hilarious! I guess someone responds to his blog post about when he was turned away at Tyler Perry's studio...Its clear this asshole cant read. Here is Duke Lantern's blog post:

Duke Reponds To Hater
There has been quite the uproar over my latest blog, "What Happened At Tyler Perry Studios". First I would like to go on record as stating that the blog itself was nothing more than an experience I decided to document and share with my advocates. With that said, I would also like to share an email I received in my in box from one Cleo Jacks-Hyde.

EMAIL-
RE: The Perry Incident. Dude. That was NOT an "invitation" for you to grab a flight and expect to be let in to see Perry.
That was "come down to the studio and drop off your painting or whatever it is you'd like to give to Mr. Perry and we'll see that he gets it"
YOU took it as an invitation. It was YOUR interpretation. You didn't confirm with them your arrival time and when you'd be meeting him. IF you'd be meeting him. YOU didn't confirm that you had an appointment.
I'm sorry you didn't get to meet Perry. Next time, before you jump on a plane, get a meeting confirmation. CONFIRMATION.
Peace.

I mean no disrespect to Mr. Jacks-Hyde, but clearly he zoned out 1/4 of the way through my blog. When reading my blog carefully you can see that after I asked the secretary if I could present Tyler Perry himself with the piece, her answer to me was "no". Stop for a second and process that word "no". No in this case meant that all intent to meet Mr. Perry were out the question... I FULLY understood and accepted that. Then she follows up by saying I could come down to the studio and drop it off there. There as in, I can hop on a plan a leave a piece of artwork with the secretary in the lobby... There as in, no you won't give your art to Tyler Perry personally but I will make certain he gets it...

In terms of having "CONFIRMATION"... I had several. Confirmations dating back to December 2008 to: DROP MY ARTWORK OFF AT THE STUDIO. NOT MEET TYLER PERRY.

Duke Lantern gets turned away

I recently read on Duke Lanterns official site about his trip to ATL present his piece that he created for Tyler Perry and boy oh boy was it a fiasco.

This is what he wrote on his blog:

What Happened At Tyler Perry Studios

By now the entire world should be familiar with arguably one of the greatest works of art ever created, in my Tyler Perry piece. What you may not be familiar with is the fact that this piece was created with the sole intent to present Tyler Perry himself with it...

On March 16th, 2009 I attempted to do just that. Preceding my arrival in March, I had several in depth conversations, (as far back as Dec '08) with a second shift secretary at the studios regarding my intentions. I stated my name, delivered a small, (but genuine) presentation about the impact that Mr Perry has had on my life, then asked the secretary if it is possible for me to present Tyler Perry himself with the masterpiece I created for him. She said no it wouldn't be possible to present it to him personally, but that I can come down to the studio and drop it off there. This exact conversation took place a minimum of five times since December of
2008, all at various times throughout the work day.

Having received what I interpreted as a confirmation, I purchased a plane ticket to Atlanta, GA. The artwork itself was too large to carry on board the airplane, so I dug deeper into my pockets and had it UPS delivered to the hotel I would be staying in. The art arrived in one piece, I landed with my life still in tact, so now the only thing remaining on the agenda is getting to the actual studio itself. On March 17th, around 9am, I took a taxi cab ride to Tyler Perry Studios. The driver knew exactly where it was and offered great conversation during the ride. After twenty minutes of driving we finally arrived at the front gate of Tyler Perry Studios! Words cannot begin to describe how exited I was to be there. It felt like I was at the exact moment I would tell my grand kids about one day... The moment my life changed.

We pull up to the guard shack:

The taxi driver rolls down my back window and I state my name and purpose of visit to the security officer. He asks for my drivers license then makes a call to the secretary desk inside. When he returns he tells me that my name isn't on the list of visitors being seen today. I immediately think there must be some kind of mix up and call the studio myself. The woman who answered the phone was quite rude. She cut me off before I even finished my statement with, "well I have no idea what your talking about... I would not have had said something like that", (pertaining to my verbal admission to drop the artwork at the studio). I told the woman of my prior conversations with personnel at the studio and still; "well I would not have said something like that". At this point I'm furious but I still maintain my composer. I explained to the woman how far I traveled just to make this delivery, but access beyond the studio gates still was not granted.

What more could I do?
Was this my cue to go into a heated rage and threaten the lives of all studio employees?
Absolutely not. I swallowed my pride and took the L.

Tyler Perry would be a fool to turn this piece down! Its a fucking masterpiece

Pic of Duke Lantern a.k.a The Black Dali

Here is a pic I found of Duke Lantern a.k.a The Black Dali

Duke Lantern, the Black Dali?

I am into art and I love the different type of art that is out there in the art world. Salvador Dali is one of my favorite artist hands down. His work is just brilliant. One day I was reading up on Dali and as I was searching I found this guy named Duke Lantern a.k.a The Black Dali. Now Duke Lantern I had no problem with but when I saw that he has an a.k.a and that is The Black Dali, this really caught my eye because I guess this guy thinks he is the reincarnated version of Salvador.

So this took me off my mission to find more information about Salvador Dali and I started to research this dude named Duke Lantern a.k.a The Black Dali. I found his Youtube page, his official site, www.dukelanternart.com and I have to say I am impressed. Now I thought this would be some wacko thinking he has some shit hot art and it was nothing like Dali's work but this dude is actually an amazing artist.

I know this guy has to get a lot of shit for calling himself the black dali, but after all according to his bio, Robin Quivers of the Howard Stern show coined that name for him....hmmmm..

what you you guys think? Check this dude out....

5 stars from me....
